great views but initial dining experience fell short

The rooftop view during the New Year's Eve celebration was lovely. The quality of the food and drinks at the event exceeded my expectations. Everything complemented the joyous atmosphere.

Rio hotels seem to be the only hotels that charge for the internet. I travel worldwide and internet is usuallly free. The lobby bar tried to charge me the equivalent of £35.00 for a double JD and coke. I accept that hotel bars are expensive but that was ridiculous. Normal price should be about £10.00. Rates should include all the various government taxes and service charge to give a realistic idea of the actual cost.

The only things that I believe they value the money you pay at Pestana are the excellent service, the friendly staff and the perfect location. Make sure you get an ocean view room or better choose another hotel.

The hotel can`t classified as a five stars hotel, very old deteriorated rooms and corridors, 80th time furniture, awful illumination and appalling facilities. the hotel needs an overall urgent renovations.

I liked the location, the staff and the lobby/restaurant/bar.

The rooms are very dated. Downstairs is very nice so when you see the bedroom is disappointing.

Don't miss the rooftop pool at sunset. It's the perfect way to unwind after a day exploring.

Lobby was modern , staff was friendly

The rooms are very old and smell very bad. I got "upgraded" to a superior suite. There was absolutely nothing superior to it nor suite

The assistance of the manager Mr Lima in changing my room from a room that was not up to standard to a sea facing suite as per my original request.

Very clean bathrooms. Views to the beach, nice staff. Pillows are great! Would stay there again.

The location

The staff attitude was poor. It is not a 5 start except for the prices which are not value for money.

Not sure what to say...Depending on what you are accostomed to, Rio Atlantica may be fine....However, it is not a 4 or 5 star hotel. Its is a very very nice 3 star hotel. I will never stay here again. Again, depending on what you're used to, it may be just fine.

Location is good. Breakfast is good but not awesome. Rooftop pool is nice. Nice view of Copacabana

Like the rest of the hotels in the area the value / price ratio is not good. Too expensive for what they offer. But looking at prices, apparently that's what you have to pay if you want to stay in Rio.

The rooftop pool offers amazing views of Copacabana. The staff were genuinely friendly, assisting me with all my needs and contributing to a wonderful experience.

Improve room accessibility for seniors.

Loved the rooftop view and the relaxing pool area-it was a perfect spot to unwind while enjoying fine sunsets. The location is unbeatable, right across from the beach. And beach towels provided was a nice touch!

We really enjoyed the Pestana Hotel for its location, friendly staff, and great views. The rooms were very nice too! It seemed like one of the nicer hotels in Rio from what we could see. It had great views of Copacabana Beach, Sugar Loaf, and the other surrounding mountain tops. You can't beat the location! It is pretty much in the center of all of the action, with many streetside restaurants to choose from. Most of the staff was very helpful, and wanted to make sure we were happy with our accomodations. If we ever do go back to Rio, we will probably stay here as we have had some very bad experiences with choosing hotels on the internet, and we were pleasantly surprised with this one! We did have an encounter with one of the staff who had a bad attitude. It really surprised us since everyone else seemed to be very accomodating. That being said, the manager on duty listened to our complaint and quickly tried to make up for that shortfall. All-in-all most the staff at Pestana seemed very interested in our satisfaction with their facility. We did not let 'one bad apple' spoil our lovely vacation at this fine hotel!

The location was perfect, right across from copacabana beach.
